Looking for a Railway Experience Systems Engineer who has worked as an Integration Engineer/ Manager on multi-disciplinary railway projects and has a good understanding of Requirements Management (& Doors) and will be responsible for integrating project requirements across multiple HS2 contracts in order to meet the project outputs for the capability and functionality of the end-state HS2 railway.
Working for the client organisation HS2 reporting to the System Integration Leader, who is Head of Requirements and System Assurance working within the System Integration Department part of the HS2’s Chief Engineer group. Working across the entire HS2 programme you will act as a “Lighthouse function” flagging potential engineering exceptions between different contracts; requirements across different sub systems where things to not go to plan and may affect the capability and functionality of the railway. You will act as a point of contact working between the standard owner for each discipline within the Chief Engineer group and HS2 Operations who will be responsible for the end state railway
The Senior Requirements Integration Engineer ensures that the HS2 requirements are successfully developed, aligned, integrated, instructed and complied with in a way that they deliver an integration solution across the programme including the main works supplier contracts through the application of a good quality requirements management process.
Key Challenge
This is a technically challenging complex role working across the entire programme of HS2 and all of its contracts:– 4 civil, 4 station, 14 rail systems & 1 train contract, the role will require superb technical judgement to align multiple-contract and system requirements across multiple systems and contracts.
Work Situation – Hybrid
The office location is Birmingham Snowhill or London Euston (your choice) they operate a flexible hybrid working model with plans to be working 2 days a week from the office. Overall, this is a very flexible modern employer who cares about delivery not where you deliver from, however, if you wish to be based front the office more you can.
Birmingham £70,000 – 74,718 + Pen 12% + health + 25 days
London £75 – 84,798 + Pen 12% + health + 25 days
Duties and responsibilities
- Responsible for integrating project requirements across contracts in order to meet the project outputs for the capability and functionality of the end-state HS2 railway;
- Work to the HS2 Requirements Management Plan and any associated process and procedures throughout the HS2 Programme Lifecycle;
- Support the communication and understanding of the Requirements Management Plan throughout HS2 and check that the Requirements Management Plan is being implemented and participate in audits of this when necessary;
- Work within a robust and practical framework for capturing, disaggregating and disseminating requirements from a top-down perspective into the technical and delivery organisations;
- Work within a digital environment for Requirements Management (DOORS) and support others to ensure its effective use within HS2 and with suppliers;
- Engage with stakeholders and third parties in agreeing their technical requirements and acceptance activity;
- Engage with the Technical and Delivery teams to oversee definition of the acceptance criteria for the requirements including design approval, demonstration of capability, acceptance of equipment and operability as appropriate;
- Engage with the Integrated Project Teams and other parts of the supply chain for the delivery HS2 to support the implementation of the HS2 Requirements Management Plan.
Candidate Criteria
Looking for a Qualified Systems Engineer (any discipline) who has extensive railway experience and has worked as an Integration Engineer or Manager for a client, consultancy or main contractor. Will have good understanding of requirements management and will be proficient on Doors (requirements database). Ideally worked on large projects / programmes and had an understanding of the whole railway system. Open to client, consultancy or Main Contractor background.
Must have strong stakeholder engagement skills to navigate a complex matrix environment and good communication skills to explain very complex ideas to a range of audiences.
