Are you a Project Manager or Assistant Project Manager with experience delivering technology or IT projects in complex multi-project environment and have excellent stakeholder management skills? Want to contribute to High Speed Two groundbreaking Digital Engineering programme, which, alongside a whole host of other capabilities is to develop and deliver a Digital Twin that can help build, operate and maintain the HS2 railway.
Digital Project Manager is required to work for the Client Organisation (High Speed Two Ltd) responsible for the New High-Speed Rail project in the UK. The role sits within the dedicated Digital Engineering department at High Speed Two reporting to the Digital Engineering Programme Manager.
Working on Phase 1 of the project, which, is valued c£60 billion has 10 years left to run, excellent opportunities for development and being involved in first of its kind work.

Job Purpose
Project Manager to work with the Digital Engineering Programme Manger to deliver a diverse range of Digital Engineering projects (largely IT based), based on prioritised business need. Ensuring delivery of capability including supporting business change and transition through to operational service. Role will assist in the management of a Graduate Project Manager.
The Digital Engineering programme currently has 15 projects in various stages of the project lifecycle, the projects are largely being managed by outside contractors, software or technology companies and in turn been overseen by Senior Stakeholders within HS2 such as GIS Lead, Asset Data Lead, Digital Engineering Lead etc. The role of the Project Manager is to put some project management capability into each of these projects, not overbearing but enough to track the projects and help them met their programme dates. These are all live projects, where delivery is the main focus, for future projects agile methodology and other frameworks will be adopted but for these the priority is delivery and being able to track their progress. The ability to manage this stakeholders both internal and external is a key skill, “managing up” being able to build quick relationships, influence and explain the need for their input.
Implementation of Project Management capability includes implementing – Project plan, scope & basic project reporting. The Project manager will also then pick up 2 – 3 projects they will in turn take ownership of.
The role works on very high profile digital and technology projects which are very visible right across the HS2 organisation, therefore candidates who deliver and impress will be in an excellent position for development & promotions.
Work Situation – Hybrid
The office location is London Euston (preferred) Or Birmingham they operate a flexible hybrid working model with plans to be working 1 or 2 days a week from the office. Overall, this is a very flexible modern employer who cares about delivery not where you deliver from, however, if you wish to be based front the office more you can.
Salary
London £50 – 55,152 + pen (6:12) + 25 hols
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, management and delivery of Digital Engineering projects, with adherence to the Digital Engineering Programme Governance Framework; and ensure all other areas of HS2 governance processes are adhered to.
- Capture new business requirements with outcomes that are specific, measurable and aligned to Digital Engineering strategy and how these are best delivered through the programme.
- Manage scope, time, budget and quality to ensure controls are maintained with tolerances set by Programme Board. Assisting with development of budgets and forecasts for future projects.
- Continuously monitor projects for risk, issues and regulatory compliance and take appropriate action to mitigate/escalate in a timely manner.
- Build, maintain and manage stakeholder relationships (Business teams, , delivery partners & vendors) during project delivery.
- Working with Digital Engineering domain leads and the Strategy team to ensure Change Management activities are delivered to the right people at the correct time.
- Production of reports to detail progression of project covering task completion, risk and issues, finance and resource profiles. Repots will consist of weekly highlight report, monthly board report and ad hoc reporting as required.
- Management of contract renewals, including all spatial data licensing and related procurement activities, across Digital Engineering to ensure existing contracts are renewed on time.
- Support the Programme office with delivering the Digital Engineering Strategy.

Candidate Criteria
Looking for a Project Manager – also open to Assistant or Graduate who has worked on digital transformation projects – Technology / IT projectys. You will have excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to quickly build report, influence others without being over besring.
Will have good project management skills set – programme, change control, risk management, stakeholder management & excellent communication skills.
Open to people from a range of organisation but should have experience of working in complex multi project environment delivering a range of projects for more than 12months

- Stakeholder Management – Identification of stakeholders, analysis of their expectations and influences, development of appropriate strategies to work with stakeholders.

Knowledge:
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Degree Educated or qualifications in Project Management, Business Management, Computer Science, or Information Systems.
- Knowledge of different project frameworks and techniques.
- Knowledge of Digital landscape and impact of digital transformation within an organisation.
Type of experience:
- Experience delivering projects in a client facing environment.
